When Malzahar, the prophet, was reborn, he was led to Icathia by a voice that would not leave him alone. This voice bestowed a terrible purpose on him. When Malzahar reached Icathia the voice stopped but the summons did not.
Unknowing to Malzahar, this voice activated a beacon within himself. This beacon fastened to Runeterra and drew forth a putrid beast from The Void. This beast crossed a threshold it did not understand which caused a barrier to widen between two worlds never meant to meet.
This beast appeared among the haunted ruins of Icathia and is known as Kog’Maw. The beacon that led him here urges him onward to Malzahar.
As Kog’Maw wandered towards this beacon, he became familiar with his surroundings, raining horror down on all who crossed his path.
At first Kog’Maw devoured all the strange new fruits and fauna he came across. Eating is Kog’Maw’s way of understanding the world around him.
Stumbling upon a tribe of nomads, Kog’Maw devoured all that stood in his way, growing in size with each consumption.
Kog’Maw’s appetite was still not satisfied, even after devouring the entire tribe of nomads. While he travels onward to Malzahar, Kog’Maw leaves a trail of destruction.
Even though he is drawn to Malzahar, it is up to anyone’s guess what will happen when the two meet.
Kog’Maw’s Full Biography
This champion is best played in the Bot Lane as ADC and can also be played in the Mid Lane. Kog’Maw is hard to play at first and requires practice in order to be good with him.
Every champion in League of Legends has a passive and 4 abilities which are used by pressing “Q”, “W”, “E”, and “R” on a keyboard during game play. “R” is considered an ultimate ability and is usually the most powerful ability. Each ability has a cool down, which means you have to wait some time before you can cast it again.
Kog’Maw’s abilities use mana. So you will have to watch your mana bar during the game. If your mana runs out, you will not be able to cast spells until it fills up.
Passive – Icathian Surprise. Each time Kog’Maw dies, he will explode after 4 seconds and can still move during this time.
Q – Caustic Spittle. This ability allows Kog’Maw to gain attack speed. He will launch a corrosive projectile at a target. If it hits the target, the target’s armor and magic resist are reduced for a short time.
W – Bio-Arcane Barrage. Kog’Maw’s auto attacks gain more range and will deal a percentage of the target’s maximum health as magic damage.
E – Void Ooze. Kog’Maw will spew an ooze which will damage all enemies it passes through. It will also leave a trail which will slow all enemies who walk in it.
R – Living Artillery. This is Kog’Maw’s ultimate ability. He will fire a shell which can travel a great distance. Each shell will deal magic damage and will reveal any invisible target. Each shot fired in a short time will cost more Mana.
How To Play Kog’Maw
Kog’Maw is a good champion to play if your team needs to do damage from far away. His ultimate ability is great at doing damage to enemies from a long distance.
When laning, take your W and use it to farm and harass your opponent from a safe distance.
At level 2, take your Q and use it with your W. Land the Q and then use W to further damage the enemy. You will get a lot of attack speed from these two abilities.
Take your E at level 3 and use it to slow the enemy. They will also take damage. Try to save this ability and use it when the enemy comes to gank you.
Get your R at level 6 and use it to further harass the enemy from a safe distance. Kog’Maw is great at attacking from a safe distance and then going all in when the enemy has low health.
Because Kog’Maw does not have a good ability to escape with, it is important to stay safe and use your E to slow the enemy down when needed. Try to stay behind your team when fighting.
Tips And Tricks
Always fight with your W. It is the main ability you will use. Your auto attacks will be extended and your attack speed will be increased.
Use your R in bushes if you suspect the enemy to be hiding in them. If there are, your R will reveal them.
When fighting, try to land your Q before using your W. You will damage the enemy more because your Q lowers armor and magic resist.
Try attack with your auto attacks on your W as much as possible. Use your abilities either before or after you use your W in order to get out as many auto attacks as possible.
Each time you die, try to position yourself next to an enemy. You will do damage to all enemies around you when you explode after 4 seconds.
How To Play Kog’Maw In The Mid Lane
Kog’Maw can also be played in the mid lane. Buy magic damage abilities and use your Q and your R a lot during team fights.
When laning, start with W and use it to increase your attacks to last hit minions easier.
Take your Q next and use it harass the enemy. At level three take your E and slow the enemy down when your Jungler comes to gank.
Get your R at level 6 and use it in team fights.
Stay back during fights and use your R. You can use your other abilities to further damage the enemy. If you buy magic damage items, your Q, E and R will do a lot of damage.
